Joan of Arc, a peasant girl from France, is famously known as the "Maid of Orléans" for her pivotal role during the Hundred Years' War. In the early 15th century, she claimed to receive visions from saints instructing her to support Charles VII and help lift the English siege of Orléans. Her presence led to a significant French victory at the Siege of Orléans in 1429, boosting French morale and leading to the coronation of Charles VII. Unfortunately, she was captured later and executed by the English and their allies. Joan of Arc is now regarded as a national hero and a saint in the Catholic Church.
