The Viking Age is generally considered to have occurred from around 793 AD to 1066 AD. This period began with the Viking raid on Lindisfarne, a monastery in England, which marked the start of extensive Norse travels, raids, and settlements across Europe. During this time, Vikings explored, traded, and established communities in regions such as the British Isles, France, and parts of Russia, as well as reaching North America. The Viking Age ended with the Battle of Stamford Bridge in 1066, which marked the decline of Viking power and the integration of Norse cultures into emerging medieval kingdoms.
