The largest type of deer is the moose, scientifically known as Alces alces. Moose are distinguished by their long legs, large body size, and distinctive broad, palmate antlers found in males. Adult moose can weigh up to 1,800 pounds (816 kg) or more and stand up to 6.5 feet (2 meters) tall at the shoulder. They are primarily found in northern regions of North America, Europe, and Asia, thriving in habitats with abundant water sources and vegetation.
