The largest species of butterfly is the Giant Swallowtail, scientifically known as Papilio cresphontes. Native to North America, particularly in the southern regions, the Giant Swallowtail can have a wingspan of up to 6 inches (15 cm). Its striking appearance features black wings with yellow markings, resembling a bird in flight. These butterflies are often found in gardens, wetlands, and citrus groves, where they feed on nectar as adults. Their larvae are known for their camouflage, resembling bird droppings to evade predators.
