The currency of Belize is the Belize Dollar (BZD). It is abbreviated as "BZ$" to distinguish it from other currencies that are also termed dollars. The Belize Dollar was introduced in 1978, replacing the British Honduras Dollar at a rate of two Belize Dollars for every British Honduras Dollar.
