The UPSC civil services examination process consists of three stages: the Preliminary examination, which is a screening test; the Main examination, which tests in-depth knowledge; and the Interview, also known as the personality test. Each stage assesses different competencies, starting with objective-type questions in the Prelims leading to subjective answers in the Mains that focus on analytical abilities and knowledge application. The Interview stage evaluates personal attributes such as leadership, communication, and ethical judgment, culminating in the final ranking of candidates for various civil services.
